Updating from previous versions

Before upgrading your KVS installation

Be sure to check the expiry date of your KVS license on Help:About. Your license is valid for any update with an issue date on or before this expiry date. If you install an upgrade issued after your license expired, your KVS installation will revert to Demo-mode until you renew your support contract.

To install a KVS Update

1. Backup both your databases and your current program version before installing the update
2. Download the update package from the KVS website. Note: the update package is a self-extracting ZIP-file that contains the program file "kvs.exe".
3. Close KVS on all machines in your network.
4. Run the update package to extract the new "kvs.exe".
5. Replace all existing copies of "kvs.exe" in your network with the new version.
6. Run the new version of KVS as manager. KVS will perform any necessary updates to the database. You must be logged in as administrator to update that KVS database.
7. When the normal KVS control panel appears, you may begin using KVS normally.
