Subjects

In the subjects register, you define which course-topics your school teaches, and which color will be used to represent courses for this topic in the daily plan.

You may choose simple course topics, such as English and German. Or you may want to subdivide topics where you have a lot of courses, for example, "English diplomas" and "English non-diploma". In this latter case, you may choose to assign the two English subjects the same color, or different colors.

The most important factors in defining subjects are teacher qualifications (which are defined by subject and course type) and course material (which are organized by subject). If you have numerous subjects, you will have to enter many more teacher qualifications and even duplicate course material.

You may wish to visually group seldom-used topics together, by assigning them the same color. For example, if your course only offers one course each in Japanese and Chinese, you would still assign these separate topics, but you might want to give them the same color - something that represents "Asian languages" to you.

KVS allows a maximum of 14 distinct colors for the course subjects - beyond this number, it becomes difficult to recognize and understand the different colors on the daily plan.
