Getting Started

After downloading KVS, it may be tempting to start entering your school's data right away. But it's worth taking a bit of time for planning. How should subjects be defined? Which course types make sense? What sort of price structure should be used?

Whatever system you have used in the past can almost certainly be entered directly into KVS. And - just as  certainly - making a few small modifications to your existing system will let you make better use of KVS.

You may wish to create a "play" database to experiment with, before entering real data into the system. You may create any number of KVS databases on the central server - as long as the data you administer is your own. How to create a new database is explained in the section Database Options.
