Daily
Schedule
The daily schedule is probably the window that you will look at the most. It
shows you all events planned in your school on a given date - it highlights
problems and allows you to edit, add and delete individual events.

You should regularly inspect the daily plan, not only for the current day,
but also for the next few days in the future. This way KVS can show you
potential scheduling problems in time for you to correct them.
Information in the daily plan is color-coded as follows:
- Background color. The background of an event is the normally color of the
subject being taught.
- If the background of an event is black (see
Eton in the screenshot), it
indicates that the teacher is on vacation, and no substitute has
been assigned.
- Frame. Regular weekly events that have not been changed have no
frames.
- A cyan frame (around Aachen at 12:00 in the screenshot) indicates a standard event where one or more items
have been changed for this particular instance, e.g., a substitute
teacher has been assigned.
- A black frame (around Bath in the screenshot) indicates a regular event that has
been cancelled.
- A pink frame (around Aachen at 08:00 in the screenshot) indicates a one-time additional event.
The scale from left-to-right is always time. However, the vertical scale is
set according to the option you choose when you display the schedule.
- By room. By default, the vertical scale shows the rooms where the
events will take place. Events shown below all rooms have no room assigned -
these may be, for example, external courses.
- By teacher. If you select the option "by teacher", then
all courses for a particular subject (selected in the drop-down) are shown according
to who is teaching them. This is an easy way to find out when teachers are
available in the course of the day.
- In this mode, if a teacher's name appears on a black background, this
indicates that the teacher is on vacation.
There are four buttons at the top of the daily schedule. These have the
following functions:
- Conflicts. If this button is disabled, there are no conflicts
amongst the displayed events. If the button is enabled (as in the
screenshot), there are conflicts. A conflict almost always requires a
solution - either a teacher is scheduled to give two simultaneous courses, a
room is double-booked, or there are two simultaneous events planned for the
same course.
- Attendance. This button is always enabled. It generates a report
showing which of the displayed events are likely to have fewer students
attending than the minimum attendance defined in the course-type. If the
report is empty, then KVS does not expect any events to be under-attended.
- Extra event. With this button, you can plan an additional event for
any course and add it to the daily schedule.
- Room plan. This button generates a report showing which rooms the
events are scheduled for. If your courses frequently change rooms, you may
wish to print this list and put it somewhere students and teachers can look
to find out where to go. The room plan will use the special template
"ReportRoomPlan.htm" if it is present. Otherwise it will use the
standard template "Report.htm".
- Event summary. This button creates a report summarizing all
information about the courses, sorted by teacher.
